Canoeing

  • Beginning
    • Beginning Canoeing is designed for the student who is interested in acquiring the necessary skills for the lifetime sport of canoeing. Flatwater skills will be taught with an emphasis on preparing the student for whitewater paddling. Special importance is placed on stroke proficiency, interpreting moving water, and basic river safety information. A field trip to the San Marcos River is included in this course.
  • Whitewater
    • Beginning Whitewater Canoeing is designed for the student who is ready for the challenge and thrill of whitewater paddling. Flat-water skills will be taught and sharpened to prepare the student for whitewater paddling. Special emphasis will be placed on stroke proficiency, interpreting moving water, and basic river rescue techniques. A field trip to the Nantahala Outdoor Center is included in this course.
