Tai Chi Chuan (Taiji Quan)
The purpose of this class is to introduce the Chinese martial art Tai Chi (Taiji) philosophy and physical techniques to strengthen the mind and body. The course will focus on learning the Simplified Yang 24 Tai Chi Chuan (Taiji Quan) Form, which will introduce beginners to all the fundamentals of Tai Chi (Taiji) as well as help to relieve stress and improve balance, strength, and flexibility.
Many people who practice external martial arts such as judo and karate learn Tai Chi (Taiji) to deepen their understanding of balance and mental control of movement. Others enjoy the challenge of mastering what is sometimes referred to as “moving meditation”. And, many are attracted to this internal martial art because it is easy to gain proficiency, regardless of athletic ability or previous experience.
