KINE 199: Yoga

Whether you need to relax, build strength, gain flexibility, or take a well-deserved break from studying, you will find your place in KINE 199 Yoga. Designed for all fitness levels in a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere, our courses blend physical practice with the history and philosophy of yoga. Through postures, intentional breathwork, and meditation, you will learn how to care for both your mind and body while gaining practical skills to manage everyday stress.

 

Course Offerings

Beginning Yoga
Perfect if you are new to yoga or looking to build a strong foundation! In this course, you will focus on basic postures, breathing techniques, and meditation that fit your personal fitness level. You will also explore the history of yoga, both worldwide and at Texas A&M, while learning how to build a personalized home practice to manage stress and anxiety.

 

Yoga for Stress Management
If you are looking to unwind, this class introduces basic postures, breathwork, and deep relaxation methods aimed at releasing built-up tension. You will experience the benefits of moving freely and tapping into the mind-body connection. Along with learning yoga history, you will master restorative poses and breath control to help navigate everyday campus stressors.

 

Intermediate Yoga
Take your practice to the next level by building on foundational techniques. This class helps you deepen your physical strength, mental focus, and everyday stress management. You will learn how to integrate yogic principles into daily living, create a consistent home routine, and cultivate daily stillness through breathwork.

 

Yoga Teacher Training
Interested in sharing yoga with others or diving deeper into the science behind it? This class covers class design, safety cues, class management, ethics, and basic anatomy as it applies to yoga postures. You will receive a certificate of completion for the course, though please note that this class alone does not complete the full 200-hour Yoga Alliance training program.
